Amenities on the Ship

There are tons of fun things to do on the ship, such as theatre shows, casinos, concerns, and more. There's quite a few videos on YouTube of people doing walkthroughs of the Resilient Lady.

When the ship is in port at a destination, you have the option to get off the ship and explore the area. You can also purchase "excursions", which are organized adventures ranging from relaxing tequilla tastings to ziplining in a jungle. For more info on excursions, see the "Tips for First Time Cruisers" section.

Tips for First Time Cruisers

Excursions

When the ship docks at a destination/port, you can get off the ship and do fun and unique things on-land. You don't have to buy an excursion if you just want to walk around to shop and eat. On the other hand, you don't have to get off the boat. Everything on the ship is still open and operating while in port.

There's two ways to buy excursions: through the cruise line, or through a 3rd party.

3rd party excursions may be cheaper, more unique, and be in a smaller group, but there is a risk of being left behind if you cannot make the board time because of a delay during your excursion. Meanwhile, excursions booked through the cruise line are coordinated directly with the ship, meaning the ship will not leave you behind if there is a delay on your excursion and/or get a refund if it's cancelled.

If this is your first time cruising, we strongly recommend you book excursions through Virgin.

You can view and buy excursions on Virgin's website after you book your ticket.

Sea Sickness

Ignore everyone that says "you don't feel it." You feel it. What they mean to say is "You get used to it." If you have motion sickness, you will feel it on the ship.

The ship has a huge gyroscope and is a big vessel on its own, making the rocking minimal when docked or in calm seas. If seas are stormy or the ship is traveling quickly (at night), the ship's movements are more pronounced.

There are lots of ways to combat motion sickness, starting with basics like staying hydrated, walking, and looking at the horizon to medications like patches and pills. Alex has heavy motion sickness and had to use both patches and pills to not be sea sick. Sea sickness patches can be bought at places like Walgreens or on Amazon. Google "sea sickness patches" or ask your doctor to learn more.
