Our Story

Lee and Alex’s journey began in high school, where they first crossed paths at an orchestra camp at Hardin-Simmons College. They became Facebook friends and stayed connected through the years.

Fast forward to a casual game of Words with Friends—the digital version of Scrabble. Alex would play during her free time, and Lee was the only person who consistently played her back, with a playful mix of banter and occasional trash talk. For a whole year, their conversations never extended beyond the game… until one day, Alex decided to learn more about the mysterious stranger who had become her favorite opponent. As it turned out, they not only lived in D.C., but in the same neighborhood—Takoma Park—and, even more shockingly, just half a block apart! That same night, they decided to meet in person, and Lee won Alex’s heart with a plate of homemade cookies he got from cat-sitting.

Since then, the two have been inseparable, and their playful banter has evolved into a lifetime of love.
